International workshop on ochocerciasis-associated epilepsy (OAE)

From 12-14 October 2017 the first international workshop on onchocerciasis-associated epilepsy (OAE) will be held in Antwerp.

OAE, of which Nodding syndrome is considered to be one of the clinical presentations, constitutes a serious public health problem in remote rural areas in Africa and has severe socio-economic consequences for entire communities.

This conference will bring together researchers and organisations involved in onchocerciasis control and research and those involved in the treatment and research of epilepsy. The ultimate goal is to create an OAE alliance to stop children from developing OAE and to decrease the suffering caused by this lingering disease.

There are no registration fees to attend this workshop, but online registration is mandatory.
