What is an ITP?

With the International Training Programme (ITP), we fund practical trainings of 2 weeks to 3 months on a development-oriented subject at a Flemish university or university college. The trainings mainly focus on participants from Africa, Asia and Latin America and are taught in English. We grant scholarships to the targeted trainees to enable them to participate in the programme.

For an ITP, we organise calls every two years. Flemish university and university college professors and teachers can submit a project proposal.

ITP participants are professionals with relevant professional or research experience and possess at least a bachelor's degree. Natives of a country outside of the 31 scholarship countries can participate in the training but do not qualify for a scholarship.

What is the goal?

We aim to give young scientists and professionals the opportunity to do a practical course in Flanders in an international environment. By stimulating the exchange of knowledge and skills that participants can apply in their home countries, the programme contributes to the local development of these countries as well as to global development.

What are the funding possibilities?

The funding of an ITP includes, in addition to the scholarships for participants, a project fee for the organising university or university college. This fee consists of bench fees per participant sponsored by our organisation (EUR 54 per participant per day) and covers the deployment of academic and administrative staff as well as logistical expenses, communication expenses and teaching aids.
