Phenotypic and genotypic characterization of Streptococcus pneumoniae strains among Children and HIV Seropositive and

The project aims to isolate Streptococcus pneumoniae from healthy children and clinical samples of children and HIV+ and HIV- patients and determine serotype distribution, genotype distribution, population structure, transmission dynamics and antibiotic resistance pattern among the isolates. In addition, it aims to describe the prevalence of nontypeable Streptococcus pneumoniae.
