Assessment and optimization of dietary selenium intake in Kenya: exploration of biofortification as a solution to the

Finished

This project will investigate regional variations in selenium (Se) status of the human population and Se concentrations in soils of Kenya, as well as factors affecting Se availability and dietary Se intake. Furthermore, a field trial will be conducted to explore the potential of biofortification, i.e. increasing Se concentrations in the food crops, to improve the Se uptake by the human population.
