Thermo-chemical conversion of lignocellulosic agriculture residues into high value bio-chars, bio-oils and power generation

Finished

Agriculture is an important productive sector in Ecuador. Conventional farming and practices have created a high dependency on sythentic fertilizers, fossil fuels and the inability to handle the harvest residues. This project proposes to utilize the lignocellulosic residues to obtain high value gaseous or liquid intermediates that can be used as renewable energy or as chemical precursors. Also solid bio-char will be produced via torrefaction to reintroduce in the fields and restore the natural soil composition and texture with the help of the Flemish partner.
