The IUC programme, Human Wellness in the context of Global Change - finding solutions for rural Africa, seeks to strengthening the capacity of staff and students in research and community engagement through a suite of integrated, multi-disciplinary research projects, ultimately aimed at rural community beneficiation. This cuts across six different research projects which reaches out both the Turfloop campus at the University of Limpopo (UL) and the Medunsa Campuses at the Sefako Makgato Health Sciences University (SMU). The IUC-UL addresses the following research topics/projects: (1) statistics, GIS, remote sensing and modelling, (2) prevention and man-agement of chronic diseases, (3) capacity development in language literacy, science literacy and multi modal texts, (4) sexually transmitted diseases, (5) impact of water related stressors on the ecosystem and (6) food security.
