Improving evidence-based practice skills in healthcare education to enhance implementation into the clinical field in Ethiopia

Ongoing

This project will work on the need to invest in professionalization of the clinical field in Ethiopia. Although Jimma University (JU) has a strong background in community-based research, the dissemination and implementation of research findings into practice is still limited. Evidence Based Practice (EBP) is known to be a key method to improve the quality of healthcare and facilitates the use of research outcomes in the field. Therefore, in this project PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts (PXL) and JU will increase EBP competences by (1) developing a blended learning course on EB research and (2) coaching at least 20 professors within interdisciplinary teams in setting up 8 EBP student projects, to put these newly acquired skills into practice. Topics are chosen in collaboration with local healthcare communities in order to ensure real implementation. A guideline on how to include EBP into the curricula will be developed and implemented.
