Support to the Gender Policy

The overall aim of the project is to support and strengthen the integration of gender into the Belgian development cooperation policy.

Many programs and projects are funded by the Belgian cooperation in the area of gender, whether in the framework of calls for projects, bilateral cooperation programs or whether developed by NGOs or by multilateral actors. However, there is no mapping or ex-post analysis presenting the results gathered, the best practices and the lessons learned from these projects. The analysis of past experiences should also help to select indicators required for following up the mainstreaming of gender. In addition, Belgian cooperation must prepare annually numerous reports related to the integration of the gender dimension, be they federal, European or international (United Nations).

In the first year, an analysis and mapping of gender activities was conducted, interviews related to gender-related reporting and the use of the gendermarker were held and initial recommendations were formulated.

On this basis, the two components for this policy supporting research are :

1. Expand the applications of the text-mining tool into an interactive platform

2. Formulate operational recommendations to support the gender policy, support uptake and outreach to stakeholder on the operational recommendations to support the gender policy.

Total budget for both years : € 100.000 (2020) + € 152.856 (2021) = € 252.856
