Our Vision
We envision a world where higher education, research and international partnerships contribute to practical solutions and evidence-based policies, empowering critical, resilient global citizens to take action in society. This fosters sustainable development both locally and globally, ensuring a better future for all.
Our Mission
To realise our vision, VLIRUOS takes on different roles:
As a grant manager, we develop and oversee a diverse portfolio of grant programmes designed to foster equitable partnerships between Flemish higher education institutions, academics, their peers in the Global South, and other stakeholders. Our portfolio includes established programmes while also providing opportunities for pioneering and innovation.
As a platform, we bring together diverse groups to build multi-stakeholder partnerships and networks, empowering them to act as drivers and agents of change.
As a knowledge hub, we create, pool, and mobilise knowledge and best practices for global sustainable development.
Our Values
The following core values are at the heart of our VLIRUOS community (encompassing higher education institutions, academics, students, etcetera in Flanders and in the Global South) and of the VLIRUOS team.
