Community Talk June: Classroom without Borders. Education, Inclusion and Diversity through Comics
How can comics become a powerful tool for promoting inclusion, intercultural dialogue, and respect for diversity in educational settings?
This Community Talk will present the experience of an International Training Project (ITP) Classrooms Without Borders, an initiative developed by the Universidad Técnica del Norte (Ecuador) and PXL University of Applied Sciences and Arts (Belgium).
Online (zoom)
Through the collaboration of professors, researchers, artists, and students, the project led to the creation of an innovative comic book that uses visual storytelling to address topics such as interculturality, inclusive education, ancestral languages, cultural identity, and social justice.
During the session, we will share how this initiative emerged, the collaborative and creative process behind the publication, as well as the challenges, lessons learned, and impact generated in teacher education and the strengthening of intercultural competencies. We will also reflect on the potential of visual narratives to transform educational practices and foster more inclusive, equitable, and culturally responsive learning environments.
Join us in this conversation to discover how art, education, and international cooperation can come together to break down barriers and create new opportunities for learning through diversity.
