Public Sector Human Resources in the DRC: The Health Sector Case
SPRING, one of the three PSP projects focused on Social Protection and inclusive Growth, is organising a roundtable on “Public Sector Human Resources in the Democratic Republic of Congo,” with a particular focus on the health sector. The performance of the health sector—one of the cornerstones of social protection in the DRC—is closely linked to the ways in which health workers are recruited and remunerated.
During this roundtable, the findings from several recent studies will be presented and new insights into this crucial issue will be provided.
The first study, conducted by researchers from the University of Antwerp and the Catholic University of Congo, analyses the growing informalisation of human resource management within the public sector. The second study, led by the World Bank, investigates the main challenges in managing human resources in the health sector and proposes potential avenues for reform.
