Refract Café: Perspectives on the Sahel
This event is organised by REFRACT, one of the Policy Supporting Programme (PSP) projects. This Refract Café will bring together academics, experts, political actors, and civil society representatives engaged in the Sahel. The aim is to foster dialogue among key stakeholders, deepen understanding of the region’s current peace and security dynamics, and identify potential avenues for action by the international community.
Universitaire Stichting, Egmontstraat 11, 1000 Brussel
The event will consist of two parts:
• A first panel, “Assessment of the Current Situation in the Sahel,” which will provide an overview of the region’s political, security, and socio-economic context, based on analyses from researchers and field experts.
• A second panel, “What Are the Options for Engagement?” which will explore potential courses of action as well as the key challenges faced by international actors in implementing their initiatives in the Sahel.
The purpose of this discussion is to enhance collective understanding of the issues at stake and to encourage more coherent cooperation between Sahelian and international stakeholders committed to peace, stability, and sustainable development in the region.
