Why Global Minds Projects Matter
Global Minds is unique in its structure, granting autonomy to institutions to identify and address their specific needs and opportunities. This decentralised approach ensures that the institutions themselves, with their intimate knowledge of local contexts and requirements, are the driving force behind the projects. Each Flemish higher education participating in the Global Minds programme develops tailored projects aligned with their institutional priorities. These projects are coordinated through the ICOS and facilitated by the respective institutions, and coordinated by the Vlaamse Hogescholenraad (VLHORA) for projects with universities of applied sciences and arts, ensuring synergies and collaboration across the sector.
The programme offers flexible funding options that allow institutions to support a wide range of activities, from exploration & valorisation to developing global citizenship approaches. This flexibility encourages institutions to innovate and adapt, fostering a dynamic environment for development initiatives. By integrating sustainable development goals into the fabric of education and research agendas, it contributes to global cooperation and addresses critical sustainability challenges through innovative solutions and partnerships.
Global Minds can also serve as a critical bridge for institutions between different project types of the VLIRUOS portfolio. Whether it's initiating a new project or sustaining momentum between major funding cycles, Global Minds ensures that valuable relationships and initiatives continue to thrive. This continuous support helps in maintaining the impact and longevity of development efforts.
