Learning event 1
On June 15, we held our first Learning Event in hybrid format at HOGENT in Ghent, Belgium, and online via Zoom.
The event welcomed 60 participants, with attendees connecting from different parts of the world.
Two guest speakers opened the event.
Kaia Ambrose, from IDRC, introduced outcome mapping as a methodology for integrating uptake strategies into research project design, walking participants through concepts such as boundary partners, outcome challenges, and progress markers.
Danick Trouwloon, from Utrecht University's SeaLink project, followed with a typology for context-appropriate research uptake strategies, distinguishing between knowledge transfer, direct engagement, and co-production approaches depending on the research and societal context.
Don't miss out on the speakers' presentations 📢
Kaia Ambrose - How to design your research project for impact using outcome mapping methodology: Experiences from funding research projects specifically aimed at UUI.
Danick Trouwloon - A typology to align research uptake with context: How to choose the right strategies for specific context.
Roundtable discussions followed, with three working tables exploring two tools in parallel: the first built a shared understanding of what Uptake, Use and Impact (UUI) means in practice; the second mapped the key elements of context analysis and where they matter most across the project cycle.
