Mountains of the Moon university and VLIR-UOS launch phase 2 of their Institutional University Collaboration

Yesterday the launch of phase 2 of the Institutional University Collaboration (IUC) between and Mountains of the Moon University (MMU)and VLIRUOS took place.

One of the key sectors that the Belgian development cooperation in Uganda focuses on is education. This is because we believe that education, at all levels, is the most important driving force for development. Quality education is a human right and academic curriculum development is crucial.

The involvement of local actors in research and academic work will ensure the resonance of the aspirations of populations and communities, and result in real applied research that contributes to the relevance and adequacy of outcomes adapted to specific local contexts.

And this is what “Phase 2” is all about. The program aims at strengthening the academic capacity of MMU by developing the culture of integration of research with teaching and community engagement. As a symbol for fruitful collaboration a tree was planted.
