VLIR-UOS wishes to provide all UOS stakeholders with information on measures related to mobility, costs and duration of VLIR-UOS programmes, projects and scholarships during the present Corona crisis.
Please consult the latest update of our informative note here (version 10 July 2020). The present document replaces all previous versions.
Please note that the Belgian government has recently decided that travels of international students are to be considered as ‘essential’ travels. This means that the newly selected master scholars can, in principle, travel to Belgium to start their master studies in academic year 2020-2021.
Visa services will start up over the next few weeks. Some embassies have already reopened (partly) or are preparing for re-opening. It is advisable that all scholars get in touch with the Belgian embassy (or visa application center) in their country to request more information and to make an appointment once possible (overview of the situation – as per 6/07/2020 – can be found in the general information document on our website).
It should however be noted that
· in some countries international flights are still banned (more info here).
· the evolution of the Corona virus is unpredictable, as international media is currently demonstrating, so please take this into account and consult multiple information sources before planning any travel.
