Lessons learned from pitfalls and opportunities for apple culture development in the tropical highlands of Tigray

Finished

Grain crops dominate crop production in Tigray while the potential for fruits have not been exploited. Hence, the objective of the project is to develop/upscale apple culture in Tigray highlands by consolidating and building on lessons learned from pitfalls during our MU-IUC program and relevant experiences gained from neighboring apple growing countries (South Africa, Kenya and Uganda) and Arba-Minch, Ethiopia. Then, diversified farming system, better farm income, and improved food security and health of the rural community will be achieved.
