Implementing Open Design methods in engineering of agricultural machinery in co-creation with small farm cooperatives

Ongoing

The project aims to help the farmers in Isabela province increase their agricultural productivity by adopting eco-friendly and economically viable agricultural machinery created by Isabela State University using the ‘Open Design method (OD)’.This involves the development of physical products, machines and systems through the use of publicly shared design information.  Locally developed agricultural machines will give higher opportunity to the farmers to mechanize their farming activities that will eventually lower down the cost of production. Capacity building to the faculty researchers of the College of Engineering of ISU and facility upgrading of the existing Fabrication Laboratory (FabLab) of ISU will be the basic requirement to realize the main objective of the research project. Resource sharing and involvement of farmers and other stakeholders will ensure the sustainability of the project even after the implementation period.
