Library 2007 DOCBIBLAS I

Finished

The present project focuses on the further development of a CDS/ISIS based library software with a view of capacity building and empowerment of the libraries and document centres by providing an open source library automation solution. The entire project is conceived as a three-phased long-term programme. - Phase 1: Re-engineering the functional modules of the UNESCO CDS/ISIS library automation solution using the Free and Open Source Software model and assuring they are updated for managing the new professional international bibliographic formats and metadata standards as used in academic libraries. Furthermore, the new CDS/ISIS library automation solution will be engineered to run at least on a MS-Windows and GNU/Linux machine. - Phase 2: Training in the use of the new CDS/ISIS library automation solution. - Phase 3: Dissemination.
